Different wine glasses

I'm having trouble understanding why some people need a glass for white wines and a different type of glass for red wines. Someone may try to explain to me why a different type of glass is required for each type of wine. In essence – not just weird

So arrogant rich people can have something to say. They think that the type of glass makes the wine and "experience" of drinking wine better, when in fact it's really just annoying.
